Safety Tips For Dealing With A Power Outage In The Workplace
Power outages can be a bit startling, especially when you’re not in the comfort of your home and in a potentially hazardous work environment. The outages can be rather inconvenient and can result in less work being completed and could bring a sense of panic to the worksite. Outages can strike at unexpected times and when the power is restored can be even less predictable. When the outages are due to extreme weather, ensure there is a safe place for people to retreat to for shelter. Communication in these situations will be very important. Be sure to follow directions and updates from your city’s emergency services.
We’ve taken the time to provide you with some information that you can use to safely deal with any possible power outages that may occur within the workplace. There may be additional precautions depending on the nature of your worksite, so be thorough when preparing a plan for a power outage. When adequately prepared, it will allow you and your team to remain calm. It is essential to have procedures in place when power is lost as it could mean phone, internet and information access is reduced or interrupted.
