Indigenous Relations At ACT

How We Help First Nations Communities

Since Advanced Consulting and Training Ltd.’s founding in 1998, our diverse team of certified health and safety professionals has continued to deliver prompt, cost-effective and relevant workplace health and safety solutions. As a Chief Prevention Officer-approved, TSSA accredited, and WSIB approved safety provider, we offer our clients safety programs such as Working at Heights, WHMIS 2015, Forklift Certification, and speciality training courses backed by professional credentials.

Since day one, we have been committed to engaging with Indigenous communities to provide them with valuable skills and safety training to help them develop important skills to help their communities grow to become vibrant, diversified and sustainable. Most importantly, we teach them how to do it safely. Advanced Consulting & Training is constantly working to develop new programs to help empower Indigenous communities.

We have worked extensively with Tungasuvvingat Inuit to get their Inuit clients who had relocated to Ontario from Northwest Territories and Nunavut the certifications and licenses they needed to be able to perform their new jobs. Here is what they had to say about the services we have provided them:

"When we first approached Advanced Consulting, we expressed to them a need to certify and license many of our Inuit clients; recently relocated from the northern regions – NU and NWT. Understanding that there may be language barriers, they provided us reassurance that our clients would receive 1-on-1 support; not only providing them with comprehension of the training, but more importantly, the confidence they would need to apply it in their roles."

In addition to providing training to Tungasuvvingat Inuit's clients, we also partner with them every year around Christmas to donate toys to Indigenous communities.

Job Specific Training for Indigenous Workers

To help make training easier for our Indigenous clients, we have developed some training programs that combine material from a range of our courses to provide them with all the skills and safety training they will need when they are on the job. These programs generally run over the course of a week. So far, we have had over 50 people complete our programs and are always looking for more people to train.

Warehouse Program

This program focuses on warehouse safety and includes training programs for equipment that is commonly found in a warehouse environment such a forklifts, reach trucks, & pallet jacks. This program also covers first aid, fall protection, safe lifting practices and due diligence.

Construction Program

This program focuses on a wide range of topics that relate to construction work and trains workers on topics such as working at heights, first aid, telescopic forklifts, boom lifts & scissor lifts, propane certification, confined space entry & rescue and much more.

Our Commitment To Indigenous Communities

At Advanced Consulting & Training, we strongly believe in supporting Indigenous communities in any way we can. Since our expertise is in safety training and consulting, we strive to provide effective and accessible training programs to all Indigenous people who need it. We are committed to growing together with our Indigenous friends and vow to support them in any way we can. By empowering people to work safely, we will continue to help their communities thrive.
