What Workers Can Expect When Returning From A Work Injury
When an injured worker returns to the workplace, there are a number of things that workers should be able to expect. We’ll show you some of those things and we hope you take them into consideration, when a worker claims for weekly payments that they expect, such as:
- The choice of treating health practitioner
- The choice of an occupational rehabilitation provider for a list of at least three providers
- They must be given the option to be represented, assisted and supported during any stage of the return to work process
- They must be suitable for pre-injury employment to be provided following a work-related injury
- There must be the maintenance of the privacy of confidential information
- The opportunity to make their decisions about the reviewing of their claim
There are other requirements which are expected of you, to help your injured workers to get back to working again. They include the following:
- Occupational Health and Safety requirements, which means that employers are obligated to provide a safe work environment.
- Privacy and Confidentiality requirement, which include compensation laws, information privacy laws and health records, all of which help to regulate the exchange of health and personal information.
- Anti-discrimination and labour requirements, which prohibits an employer or prospective employer from engaging in discriminatory conduct in relation to a worker’s pursuit of a claim for compensation.
