Frequently Asked Questions
Stand First Aid & CPR training is more extensive and is designed for those who require first aid training for work. It involves double the amount of in-class training and equips participants with a more advanced understanding and more practical skills for first aid situations.
Emergency CPR & First Aid training programs involve only the basic skills of learning how to respond to cardiovascular emergencies. It is a shorter course that equips participants with general knowledge of first aid principles.
First aid refers to the immediate emergency care given to an injured or ill person until they can receive professional medical assistance. The purpose of first aid is to minimize the injury and in extreme cases, to keep someone alive. The role of the first aider is to recognize the emergency at hand, to call 911 immediately, and to provide care according to your skills, comfort level, and knowledge until the medics arrive.
Standard first aid skills and knowledge should include how to handle the following situations:
- Heart Attacks & Strokes
- Bleeding
- Anaphylaxis
- Diabetic Treatment
CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is a lifesaving technique that’s used in emergency situations in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped.
The term cardio refers to the heart while pulmonary refers to the lung. CPR is a combination of resuscitating an individual with assisted breathing and chest compressions. CPR helps provide the brain with oxygen during a cardiac arrest and will increase the likelihood of survival until professional medical assistance arrives.
