A Guide For Handling Employee Injuries At Work

If at some point in the workplace, an accident or injury happens to our employee, you need to know how to handle the situation. You actually need to record the injury in the Register of Injuries or if someone else does the recording, then you need to ensure that they accurately record all of the details into the register.

Your injured worker must receive a written notification which signifies that you have received notice of their injury. You can simply do that by giving them a copy of their entry in the Register of Injuries. When entering the details into the Register of Injuries, you must enter details of the injury, as well as the following details:

  • The name of the injured worker
  • The occupation or job title of the injured worker
  • The time and date that the worker was injured or fell sick
  • The exact location of the worker when he/she got injured or got sick
  • The way that the injury or illness happened
  • The injury or illness’s nature and the body parts which were affected
  • The people who witnessed the injury or illness
  • The date that you were notified
  • The name of the individual who is completing the register, if your injured worker didn’t do it.
