Joint Health and Safety Committee – Basic Part 2
General information on course
Part II has been designed to assist Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Certified Members in taking what they learned in Part I and apply it to specific hazards found in their workplace. All employers in Ontario must provide to all workers specific hazard training that is relevant to their workplace as well as an assessment of the hazards the workers are being exposed to. This program will teach JHSC Certified Members how to complete a workplace hazards assessment and file the necessary paperwork with the Chief Prevention Officer in order to become Part II compliant.
Duration:
Two Full Days (13 hours)
Who Should Attend:
All Part I Certified Members must complete a Part II certification in order to comply with the mandate issued by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development of Ontario
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
Upon the successful completion ofthis safety training program, participants will have acquired the generalunderstanding of workplace safety and a working safety knowledge of:
- The legislative requirements (Government Regulations, CSA Standards and Manufacturers’ Guidelines and Principles) – Review of material covered in Part I;
- The duties and responsibilities of all workplace stakeholders – Review of material covered in Part I;
- Part II hazard-specific certification – An introduction.
AFTER THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Conduct on-going audits, formulate and recommend a continuous improvement plan.
Understand what constitutes a workplace hazard and how to conduct a workplace hazard assessment and evaluation; - Know how to assess whether or not additional hazard specific training is needed;
- Know what additional steps need to be taken to complete your Part II certification;
By means of group discussion, case studies and one-on-one instruction, participants will gain the ability to apply what they learn in this course.
