THEORETICAL COMPONENT:

After successfully completing this portion of the course, participants will understand:

• The legislative requirements (Government Regulations, CSA Standards and Manufacturers’ Guidelines and Principles);
• The duties and responsibilities of all workplace stakeholders;
• Service vehicle maintenance;
• 0-8 ton crane operation and safe hoisting and rigging practices;
• Site hazard evaluation and preparation;
• Hydraulic bead breakers, rams and specialty tools;
• Mounting and demounting one-piece, three-piece and five-piece wheel assemblies;
• Torque values;Tires, rims and valve assemblies;
• Proper lock-out/tag-out procedures.

PRACTICAL COMPONENT:

To successfully pass this course, participants must demonstrate the following:

• The capability to conduct a site hazard evaluation and prepare a safe work area;
• The capability to conduct a pre-inspection of the service vehicle, crane and rigging equipment;
• The ability to properly rig a load to be lifted;
• The ability to execute a safe lift – including travelling with and placing a load;
• The ability to demonstrate the safe use of a hydraulic bead breaker, ram and all specialty tools;
• The capability to conduct a proper lock-out/tag-out procedure;
• The ability to mount and demount a one, three, and five piece wheel assembly.

By means of group discussion, case studies and one-on-one instruction, participants will gain the ability to apply what they learn in this course

AFTER THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

After successfully completing and passing both the theoretical and practical portions of this course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and be qualified to operate a 0-8 ton crane (commonly referred to as a Knuckleboom, Tire Handler or Manipulator.
