Worker Due Diligence
General information on course
Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, it is the duty of a worker to “Work in compliance with the Act and the Regulations”. This program has been developed to ensure that workers understand their duties and responsibilities under the Act as well as what constitutes compliance under the law. Participants must successfully complete and pass this course to receive their record of training (ROT).

Duration:
Can be a half-day depending on the size of the group and participant interaction.
Who Should Attend:
This program has been developed for all personnel in a workplace that do not hold management or supervisory positions.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
After successfully completing this course, participants will understand:
- The legislative requirements (Government Regulations, CSA Standards and Manufacturers’ Guidelines and Principles);
- The duties and responsibilities of all workplace stakeholders;
- The rights and responsibilities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) as well as those of the Health and Safety Representative;
- The role of workers in ensuring compliance with the Act and its Regulations.
AFTER THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Recognize and understand what constitutes ‘Due Diligence’;
- Understand liabilities, fines and offences;
- Help create a ‘Safety First’ culture in your organization;
- Interact effectively with Management, JHSC Members or the Health & Safety Representative in order to foster and ensure a healthy and safe workplace.
By means of group discussion, case studies and one-on-one instruction, participants will gain the ability to apply what they learn in this course.
